For lunch

The Institute canteen is found in the F Building [map: US/A4], but it is  only open during the lunch hours, 11:30 am–1:30 pm. The list below  provides a few alternatives. Most are relatively quick and  inexpensive—at least by Danish standards—and at no more than a five to  ten minute walk from the Institute.

  • Banh Mi, approx 50 kr, Elmegade 20. Delicious vietnamese sandwiches.
  • Cavallino, approx 50 kr. This Italian pizza/sandwich/salad shop is directly across the road from the Institute.
  • Den Franske Café, varying cost, Sortedam Dossering 101 (beside Sortedams Sø.) A pleasant place to relax.
  • Quattro Fontane 4, Blegdamsvej (just past Netto towards Trianglen). Italian delicatessen with excellent sandwiches.
  • Smag, Fælledvej 25 or Nordre Frihavnsgade 13a, reasonable sandwiches on traditional rye bread and salads.
  • Sundsult, Elmegade 8. Another good option for sandwiches and salads.
  • LeLe, Østerbrogade 56, Vietnames style place with a lunch menu around 100kr.
  • Selfish sushi, 75-110 kr, Elmegade 4. Best sushi place in town!
  • Riccos cafe bar and shop, Ryesgade 87. Nearby cafe, also some rolls and sandwiches.

Other restaurants

The following restaurants were recommended by the members of the  Institute. The food at each is meant to be good and moderately priced,  unless otherwise noted, and each restaurant should be reasonably  accessible from the Institute, though perhaps not as close as those  places listed for lunch.
The quality—or even the existence—of a restaurant can always change, so  please let us know whether we should remove any of these restaurants  from this list

  • Quattro Fontane, Italian cuisine, cost ~100–150 kr, Guldbergsgade 3 (reliable, maybe not exciting)
  • Fru Heiberg, Rosenvængets Allé 3. Cosy restaurant just off trianglen ~ 150-200kr.
  • Carte Blanche, Dag Hammarskjölds Allé 1B. French ~ 3 courses for 250kr
  • Le Saint Jacques,  French cuisine, cost ~150 kr, Sankt Jakobs Plads 1 (go for the fixed  3-course dinner; quality varies a bit, but it is always high)
  • Laundromat Cafe, Elmegade 15. Burgers and sandwiches. You can always wash some clothes while you eat as well...
  • Hanoi, Classengade 5. Good value Vietnamese resturant.
  • Sebastopol, Sankt Hans Torv 32.  French style bistrot, cost 70–130 kr.
  • Scarpetta, Rantzausgade 7. Part of the CoFoCo chain, good qualtiy Italian food.
  • Halifax - Right on Trianglen this Copenhagen burger institution is popular with our post-docs and visitors. 120-135kr.
