Emil Bjerrum-Bohr Receives Grant from Independent Research Fund Denmark
NBIA Associate Professor N. Emil J. Bjerrum-Bohr has received a grant from Independent Research Fund Denmark to pursue a new quantum field theoretic avenue towards the computation of gravitational wave signals on the basis of general relativity. The project, which is called 'Black Holes and Extreme Gravitational Forces', strives for a strengthened theoretical effort that builds on precise modern computational methods for scattering amplitudes as a way to boost and complement theoretical calculation of classical observables in Einstein gravity.
Building on new techniques for the computation of scattering amplitudes in quantum field theory, this new approach treats gravity as described by general relativity as the other known fundamental forces.
The grant will allow the hire of a post-doctoral fellow and an active visitor program in this field.
