NBIA Seminar: Filippo Vernizzi

I will review dark energy and modified gravity theories based on a scalar extra field and discuss several ways to constrain them with future large scale structure observations, both in the linear and mildly nonlinear regime. Moreover, I will show that the recent simultaneous detection of gravitational waves from inspiral neutron stars, together with its associated electromagnetic counterparts, dramatically restrict the parameter space of these models.
