Bin Liu received his Ph.D. in Astronomy from University of Science and Technology of China in 2016. After that, he worked as a postdoc fellow at Shanghai Astronomical Observatory and research associate at Cornell University. In Jan. 2021, he joined the Niels Bohr Institute at University of Copenhagen.

Bin Liu is interested in a wide range of dynamics research problems from extroplanet to supermassive black hole. Over the last few years, he studied dynamical formation of binary black holes in the hierarchical tertiary-induced merger scenario, predicting signatures of “90 degrees” spin-orbit misalignments. At NBIA, he will be working on the dynamics and merger of compact objects near super-massive black holes / in active galactic nuclei discs.
